About the role

Responsibilities

  • Represent the City of New York in affirmative and defensive civil litigation
  • Draft motions, conduct depositions, manage discovery, and negotiate settlements
  • Appear in court and at depositions as needed
  • Support juvenile delinquency proceedings and other legal matters handled by the Law Department

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ABA-approved law school
  • Admitted to practice in New York State or in the process of admission
  • Commitment to public service and litigation work
  • Interest in the division’s subject matter
  • Federal court admission or eligibility for some divisions
