About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess condition, diagnose problems, and perform conservation treatments on works of art on paper
- Conduct technical examinations and coordinate scientific analysis from external sources
- Develop conservation measures, preservation plans, and technical procedures based on research
- Maintain permanent records of examinations, scientific investigations, and treatments
- Define conservation criteria for framing, mounting, handling, packing, storage, and exhibition
- Monitor environmental conditions such as relative humidity, temperature, and light exposure
- Provide expert advice and consultation to curators, artists, and external organizations
- Participate in gallery groups and committees to promote conservation issues
Requirements
- Master's degree in conservation from a recognized university or college
- Proven experience in an art museum or equivalent professional conservation setting
- Deep knowledge of conservation principles, materials, techniques, and ethics
- Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for delicate operations
- Strong scientific research skills and the ability to interpret complex data
- Proficiency in operating specialized technical and scientific equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and consultation
