About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assess condition, diagnose problems, and perform conservation treatments on works of art on paper
  • Conduct technical examinations and coordinate scientific analysis from external sources
  • Develop conservation measures, preservation plans, and technical procedures based on research
  • Maintain permanent records of examinations, scientific investigations, and treatments
  • Define conservation criteria for framing, mounting, handling, packing, storage, and exhibition
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as relative humidity, temperature, and light exposure
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to curators, artists, and external organizations
  • Participate in gallery groups and committees to promote conservation issues

Requirements

  • Master's degree in conservation from a recognized university or college
  • Proven experience in an art museum or equivalent professional conservation setting
  • Deep knowledge of conservation principles, materials, techniques, and ethics
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for delicate operations
  • Strong scientific research skills and the ability to interpret complex data
  • Proficiency in operating specialized technical and scientific equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and consultation
