Assistant Commissioner

Responsibilities

• Lead the agency’s Alternative Delivery Program, including design-build and emergency on-call contracting initiatives
• Establish strategic direction, governance framework, and operational standards for the alternative delivery portfolio
• Advise executive leadership on procurement strategy, risk allocation, and capital portfolio optimization
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of alternative delivery projects across vertical and horizontal construction
• Develop and institutionalize standardized policies, procedures, and performance metrics
• Lead market outreach and industry engagement to strengthen partnerships with design and construction communities
• Develop internal organizational capacity through staff development and multidisciplinary team leadership

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, urban planning, or related field plus 5 years of experience in engineering design/construction coordination
• At least 2 years of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity
• Must be permanent in the Administrative Project Manager title or have passed DDC promotional list (exam #5565) or open-competitive list (exam #5164)
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline
• Juris Doctor degree
• Valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Landscape Architect
