Assistant Chief Investigator

Responsibilities

• Support all investigative activities including search warrants, surveillance, evidence management, and witness interviews
• Coordinate specialized investigative units and manage resource allocation
• Perform threat assessments and mitigate risks to executives, prosecutors, and witnesses
• Collect and analyze protective intelligence from open-source and law enforcement channels
• Oversee Bureau personnel recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
• Provide strategic direction for complex undercover operations
• Facilitate and evaluate complex investigations to ensure compliance with legal standards
• Develop interagency relationships with law enforcement partners
• Research and evaluate new surveillance equipment and technologies

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree and four years of criminal investigation experience (with 18 months in a supervisory capacity)
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Firearms qualification
• Valid NYS Basic Course for Police Officers certificate or eligibility for refresher course
• Valid NYS driver’s license
• Ability to pass medical, drug, psychological, and background screenings
• U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten or more years of experience as a New York State police officer
• Supervisory experience in organized crime, financial crime, violent crime, or special victims
• Five or more years of administrative or managerial experience
• Experience overseeing complex, multi-agency criminal investigations
