Assistant Chess Instructor

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chess Instructor in setting up and managing interactive chess classes for 15-22 elementary students
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to help students practice piece movements and basic concepts
• Support the Chess Instructor in guiding activities and reinforcing positive behavior
• Follow the structured curriculum and promote good sportsmanship
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity
• Follow school safety protocols, including supervision during arrival and dismissal
• Travel to various local school sites for each session

Requirements

• Genuine interest in working with groups of elementary students
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals (piece movement, basic strategy, and simple tactics)
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive between locations
• Availability on weekday afternoons (typically between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM)
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or camp counseling
