Assistant Cheerleading Coach

Responsibilities

• Assist in the recruitment and retention of all-girl, co-ed, and game-day cheer squads across the Post and Brooklyn campuses.
• Supervise, train, and instruct cheerleading teams in proper technique, performance, and injury prevention.
• Co-manage the Finley Mascot Team and oversee program aspects including practices, competitions, travel, and social media.
• Assist in managing the cheer program budget and generating non-tuition revenue through fundraising and youth summer camps.
• Serve as a primary advisor and success coach for students in the LIU Spirit program, providing academic and career guidance from pre-enrollment through graduation.
• Coordinate with the Head Cheerleading Coach, Dance Coaches, and Marching Band Director to ensure a dynamic Division I game-day experience.
• Represent LIU Cheer and LIU Spirit at university events, admissions functions, and community engagements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1–3 years of professional coaching experience, preferably in a collegiate setting.
• Experience as a member of a collegiate cheer team or experience coaching a cheer team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to travel between LIU campuses as required.
