Assistant Cafe Manager

Responsibilities

• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the café
• Lead busy service periods and ensure outstanding hospitality
• Maintain high standards of food, coffee, and beverage presentation
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and licensing requirements
• Support recruitment, induction, and training of new team members
• Coach and develop colleagues to deliver knowledgeable service
• Assist with rota planning and team supervision
• Manage stock, ordering, and supplier relationships
• Monitor labour costs and operational performance
• Handle cash and daily reconciliation
• Uphold brand standards and café presentation

Requirements

• Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant café manager role
• Experience in a café, restaurant, or premium hospitality environment
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Calm, organised approach under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Understanding of food safety and health and safety requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Barista and specialty coffee experience
• Cocktail or bar experience
• Experience managing stock, rotas, and operational costs
• Interest in design, culture, travel, and the Monocle brand
