About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining a dynamic band program that encourages maximum student participation.
- Conduct rehearsals and performances, demonstrating an understanding of various musical styles.
- Support the recruitment of new band members at the elementary and middle school levels to ensure balanced instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with all U.I.L., T.E.A., and T.M.E.A. rules and regulations.
- Prepare students for competitions, including U.I.L. Concert/Sight Reading and Solo & Ensemble contests.
- Maintain organized facilities and ensure all instruments and equipment are properly used, maintained, and stored.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Attend required meetings, including Region XIV Music Meetings and campus-level meetings.
- Provide instructional support through distance or virtual learning formats when required by district protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a music-related major.
- Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate.
- Proven knowledge of instrumental music teaching and student development.
- Experience working with middle school or high school bands.
