About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization and administration of medical services, including medical recordkeeping, referrals, and insurance procedures.
  • Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate athletic training staff and student workers.
  • Manage department budgeting, inventory, purchasing, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and update sports medicine policies, protocols, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and campus partners to support student-athlete health.
  • Recognize, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate varsity student-athlete injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide medical coverage for home and selected away varsity athletic contests.
  • Serve as the NCAA Athletics Health Care Administrator and participate in leadership teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification for Athletic Trainers (NATABOC).
  • Current or eligible for athletic trainer licensure in the State of California.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience as a certified athletic trainer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Demonstrated experience in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and emergency care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with physicians, coaches, and parents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in athletic training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience as a certified athletic trainer in a higher education or collegiate athletics environment.
