Assistant/Associate Professor

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand an active, extramurally funded research program (80% of time).
• Mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students within the laboratory setting.
• Teach and mentor students within the NCBP and BSOM courses and programs (15% of time).
• Perform departmental and university service, including contributions to the scientific discipline (5% of time).
• Manage fiscal responsibilities as a Principal Investigator, including budgeting and spending for intramural and extramural grants.

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences.
• A strong record of academic accomplishments in cardiovascular, renal, and/or immunology/inflammatory disease disciplines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• For Associate Professor rank: At least four years of experience as an Assistant Professor, an exemplary scholarly portfolio, and proven supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in a laboratory environment.
• Experience teaching small group problem-based learning sessions to medical students.
• Current holder of a multi-year federal research award.
