Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester, including upper-level courses such as Research Methods, Senior Capstone, and advanced electives.
• Prepare course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and multimedia content, for Criminal Justice and Sociology courses.
• Evaluate student performance through grading assignments, examinations, and laboratory work.
• Engage in professional development and scholarly pursuits, involving undergraduate students in research endeavors.
• Provide academic and vocational advising to students, including guidance on career paths and internship placements.
• Contribute to the department and university through committee service, student recruitment, and program development.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Criminal Justice.
• At least five years of professional experience as a practitioner in the criminal justice field (e.g., law enforcement, corrections, or juvenile justice).
• Proven college-level teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations and promote student retention.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD in Criminal Justice.
• Experience leading a Criminal Justice program or department at the Associate Professor level.
• Ability to teach forensics.
• Experience teaching a broad range of in-person criminal justice courses.
