About the role

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the use of museum collections by meeting and working closely with faculty across all disciplines.
  • Lead and co-facilitate discussion-based sessions for classes within the museum's galleries and study rooms.
  • Develop and support faculty development initiatives, including pedagogical workshops and curriculum development grants.
  • Assist in the development of teaching exhibitions that support coursework and highlight current research.
  • Implement new strategies to encourage innovative faculty and student engagement with the museum.
  • Liaise with collection curators regarding the curricular potential of prospective exhibitions and acquisitions.
  • Support the museum's strategic plan through academic teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Assist with the assessment and evaluation of the Office of Academic Programs using quantitative and qualitative data.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in an object-focused field (e.g., Art History, Studio Art, History, Anthropology, or Archaeology).
  • Professional museum experience (4 years for Associate level; 2 years for Assistant level).
  • Teaching experience in a museum or higher education setting.
  • Broad knowledge of art and material culture.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Art-handling experience, particularly with works on paper.
  • Proficiency with TMS (The Museum System) and project management software.
  • Foreign language skills.
