Assistant Accountant

Responsibilities

• Process and document financial transactions accurately
• Reconcile balance sheet and intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journals and reporting
• Support statutory reporting including BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, and FBT
• Assist with audit documentation and requirements
• Handle day-to-day finance tasks such as PO matching, invoice coding, and allocations
• Provide cover across Accounts Payable and Receivable when required
• Prepare monthly sales reports across products and business segments
• Assist in the CAPEX process, maintain the register, and perform monthly reconciliations
• Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• High attention to detail and strong time management skills
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS)
• Confident written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years of specific experience in an Assistant Accountant role
• Experience using ERP systems and/or Power BI
• Exposure to manufacturing or complex business environments
