Assistant Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
• Assist in the reconciliation of bank statements, supplier and customer accounts, and other balance sheet items
• Support the production of monthly and weekly cash flow reports, including data collection and analysis
• Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reports
• Support month-end processes and the production of accurate financial information to strict deadlines
• Assist with forecasting and the production of annual overheads budgets
• Help ensure all financial records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with regulatory requirements
• Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and carry out ad-hoc finance tasks

Requirements

• Previous experience working in an accounts or finance assistant role
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Experience reconciling control accounts and preparing accounts to trial balance
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong organisational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualification, such as AAT or IATI
