Assignment and Digital Editor

Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple police scanners to identify breaking news across various agencies
• Gather and organize press releases, emails, phone calls, and viewer tips to identify compelling content
• Assist news management, producers, digital editors, and reporters with content gathering and planning
• Coordinate with field crews to track their locations and maintain communication
• Publish content across all digital platforms, including social media and push alerts

Requirements

• Proven experience listening to and interpreting police scanners
• Proficiency with digital platforms and social media management
• Working knowledge of FTP or the ability to learn how to transfer video via FTP
• Familiarity with local newsgathering technology and industry terminology
• Ability to remain calm and level-headed during high-pressure breaking news situations
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends
• Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM
