About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor multiple police scanners to identify breaking news across various agencies
- Gather and organize press releases, emails, phone calls, and viewer tips to identify compelling content
- Assist news management, producers, digital editors, and reporters with content gathering and planning
- Coordinate with field crews to track their locations and maintain communication
- Publish content across all digital platforms, including social media and push alerts
Requirements
- Proven experience listening to and interpreting police scanners
- Proficiency with digital platforms and social media management
- Working knowledge of FTP or the ability to learn how to transfer video via FTP
- Familiarity with local newsgathering technology and industry terminology
- Ability to remain calm and level-headed during high-pressure breaking news situations
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends
- Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM
