About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and supervise assembly team members to ensure high-quality manufacturing standards and timely customer delivery.
- Support staff development through training, mentoring, regular one-to-one meetings, and performance appraisals.
- Prioritize safety by performing daily health and safety checks, conducting weekly behavior audits, and reporting near misses.
- Monitor manufactured output against the master production schedule and react quickly to quality issues, process problems, or machine breakdowns.
- Drive continuous improvement by supporting 5S/6S activities, defining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and implementing countermeasures for non-conformance.
- Manage administrative duties including shift start/end meetings, downtime analysis, attendance tracking, and unplanned absence management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in leading and managing people.
- Experience working within Lean manufacturing environments (ideally Yellow Belt or above).
- Practical experience with 5S or 6S processes.
- Minimum of City & Guilds, NVQ Level 4, or time-served in a directly related discipline.
- ILM or NVQ 4 in managing people (or currently working towards it).
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Proficiency in IT, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to investigate non-conformance and assist in root cause analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid Certification.
- Experience working within NEBOSH or COSHH environments.
