About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide ASL/English interpretation for classes, workshops, and events
- Shadow professional interpreters and participate in mentorship and feedback sessions
- Collaborate with the Impact & Engagement department to foster a welcoming environment
- Learn and adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct for interpreters
- Participate in team meetings, in-service training, and supervisory sessions
- Maintain a trauma-informed environment of wellbeing
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an ASL/English Interpreter Training Program (associate or bachelor’s level)
- Advanced proficiency in ASL with coursework in interpretation completed or in progress
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in community service, non-profit, or healthcare settings
