About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as the Trust Accountable Pharmacist for the Aseptic Unit, ensuring compliance with national Quality Assurance standards
- Lead, manage, and develop all aspects of the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit for safe preparation of sterile injectable products
- Provide expert clinical and technical advice on stability, compatibility, and aseptic preparation processes
- Lead the development and maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS) and internal audits
- Serve as the Trust lead for external audits (EL97, EL52)
- Oversee environmental monitoring and produce regular service reports including CAPA updates and workload statistics
- Lead long-term capacity planning and contribute to Trust-wide strategy for injectable medicines
- Oversee computer systems and documentation within the Aseptic Unit
Requirements
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Significant experience within hospital aseptic services
- Strong knowledge of national QA standards for aseptic preparation
- Experience managing aseptic units under Section 10 exemption
- Proven leadership and staff management skills
- Excellent understanding of environmental monitoring, PQS, and risk management principles
- Ability to provide advanced clinical and technical advice to multi-disciplinary teams
