Aseptic Services Accountable Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Act as the Trust Accountable Pharmacist for the Aseptic Unit, ensuring compliance with national Quality Assurance standards
• Lead, manage, and develop all aspects of the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit for safe preparation of sterile injectable products
• Provide expert clinical and technical advice on stability, compatibility, and aseptic preparation processes
• Lead the development and maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS) and internal audits
• Serve as the Trust lead for external audits (EL97, EL52)
• Oversee environmental monitoring and produce regular service reports including CAPA updates and workload statistics
• Lead long-term capacity planning and contribute to Trust-wide strategy for injectable medicines
• Oversee computer systems and documentation within the Aseptic Unit

Requirements

• Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Significant experience within hospital aseptic services
• Strong knowledge of national QA standards for aseptic preparation
• Experience managing aseptic units under Section 10 exemption
• Proven leadership and staff management skills
• Excellent understanding of environmental monitoring, PQS, and risk management principles
• Ability to provide advanced clinical and technical advice to multi-disciplinary teams
