About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual coaching appointments and drop-in support to assist peers with time management, goal-setting, and academic anxiety.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and class visits focused on holistic skills like study strategies and stress management.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to support specific student populations, including those on academic probation or within Living Learning Communities.
  • Create supplemental student resources, including coaching content and social media posts.
  • Maintain accurate data reporting for all coaching sessions and service efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be a current University of La Verne student.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.25.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to help students construct their own understanding of success.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and listen effectively to diverse student needs.
  • High level of dependability, personal accountability, and self-motivation.
  • Sensitivity to diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous academic support or tutoring experience, particularly with students with documented disabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and active campus involvement.

Benefits

  • Flexible work schedule (approximately 8–10 hours per week).
