About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide individual coaching appointments and drop-in support to assist peers with time management, goal-setting, and academic anxiety.
- Develop and facilitate workshops and class visits focused on holistic skills like study strategies and stress management.
- Collaborate with professional staff to support specific student populations, including those on academic probation or within Living Learning Communities.
- Create supplemental student resources, including coaching content and social media posts.
- Maintain accurate data reporting for all coaching sessions and service efforts.
Requirements
- Must be a current University of La Verne student.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.25.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to help students construct their own understanding of success.
- Ability to work cooperatively and listen effectively to diverse student needs.
- High level of dependability, personal accountability, and self-motivation.
- Sensitivity to diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous academic support or tutoring experience, particularly with students with documented disabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and active campus involvement.
Benefits
- Flexible work schedule (approximately 8–10 hours per week).
- Paid Sick Leave (one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 24 hours per year).
