Asbestos PLM Analyst

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze aerobiological and environmental samples for asbestos using Polarizing Light Microscopy (PLM)
• Accurately enter and report analytical data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Perform independent data reviews of other analysts' work to ensure accuracy
• Conduct analysis of reference materials, proficiency samples, and quality control samples
• Assist the QA manager with the development, implementation, and data collection of QA processes
• Manage and maintain laboratory inventory, including re-sale supply items and consumables
• Coordinate and manage sample workloads according to due dates and hold times
• Maintain and update necessary onsite training and Quality Assurance documentation
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for errors or issues

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, geology, or a closely related science
• 0-1+ years of experience performing asbestos microscopy using PLM
• Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of 8 units of Geology coursework
• Knowledge of general regulatory requirements
• Strong proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and databases
• Excellent scientific, organizational, and computer skills
