About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach one seminar in the social and material history of 19th-century art during the Fall 2026 semester.
- Develop course content covering topics such as British Aestheticism, Impressionism, American art, or transatlantic exchange.
- Integrate local New York City museum collections into the seminar curriculum.
- Conduct biweekly individual "conferences" with students to guide them through semester-long independent research projects.
- Support the development of undergraduate research, writing, and analytical skills through a unique pedagogical approach.
Requirements
- ABD or Ph.D. in Art History or a related interdisciplinary field.
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available).
- Ability to teach in person on campus for the duration of the contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching within a liberal arts framework.
- Ability to connect course topics to area museum collections.
