About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach two courses (one in the fall and one in the spring) specializing in Early Modern European Art and Architecture (ca. 1400-1750).
- Situate European art and architecture within global contexts, including trade networks, colonialism, expansion, empire, and the Global Mediterranean or Transpacific/Transatlantic worlds.
- Facilitate student learning through a unique pedagogy involving lectures and small "group conferences."
- Guide students through semester-long independent research projects via biweekly individual conferences for seminar courses.
- Support the development of undergraduate research, writing, and analytical skills.
Requirements
- ABD or Ph.D. in Art History or a related interdisciplinary program.
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available).
- Ability to teach in person on campus for the duration of the contract.
Benefits
- Compensation is provided at a per-course rate based on experience ($10,500 to $14,000 per course).
- Funding is available for field trips to museums in the New York City area.
