About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks including inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and changing HVAC filters.
- Service building components such as windows, doors, roofs, stairs, furniture, ceilings, and flooring.
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and provide accurate updates.
- Execute general building repairs involving carpentry, masonry, glazing, drywall, painting, and caulking.
- Repair plumbing fixtures including faucets, water closets, urinals, showers, water heaters, and water lines.
- Conduct daily inspections of work areas and buildings to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
- Prepare time and materials estimates for facilities renewal and renovation projects.
- Assist in the oversight of outside vendors and contractors to ensure quality standards are met.
- Respond to student and community issues with a professional and courteous demeanor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, repair, and renovation.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry objects ranging from 20 lbs to over 100 lbs.
- Ability to work in various environments, including extreme temperatures, dusty or noisy areas, and confined spaces.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work overtime and be available for emergency services as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of vocational training in a skilled trade related to building repair and maintenance.
- State certification in a technical trade area.
