Area Lead Health Information Specialist

Responsibilities

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information and HIPAA compliance
• Manage patient health records, including preparing new charts and creating digital images for electronic medical records
• Respond to requests for patient records from internal and external sources
• Handle inbound and outbound calls, including medical status updates for patients, insurance companies, and attorneys
• Assist with training, mentoring, and onboarding new HIS associates
• Act in a lead role to assist staff with general questions and developmental training
• Generate reports for management and participate in project teams to advance operational strategies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of Health Information related experience
• Ability to travel locally or regionally 75% or more of the time
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment
• Ability to commute between multiple locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of Health Information related experience
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
