Area Health Information Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Process medical record requests (ROI) in a timely and efficient manner
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure HIPAA compliance
• Manage patient health records and prepare new patient charts
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
• Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
• Handle inbound and outbound calls and assist with patient walk-ins
• Perform administrative duties including faxing, mail handling, and data entry
• Assist with training and developmental training for new associates
• Exceed productivity expectations and participate in operational project teams

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of Health Information Management (HIM) related experience
• Ability to travel locally/regionally 75% or more of the time
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Strong data entry and clerical skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Ability to work overtime during peak seasons

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience
• Previous production or metric-based work experience
• In-person customer service experience
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients
