Area Director of Residential Life

Responsibilities

• Execute strategies and programs that enrich the residential experience and build intellectually engaging communities.
• Supervise, recruit, train, and evaluate a team of live-in student staff.
• Manage community development through event planning, community meetings, and one-on-one student support.
• Respond to student crises and conduct issues, applying appropriate sanctions and connecting students to support systems.
• Coordinate residence hall operations, including occupancy management, maintenance monitoring, and health and safety inspections.
• Collaborate with faculty and Residential Commons leadership to support living and learning objectives.
• Participate in a professional staff on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Proven experience in student leadership roles.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings, late nights, and occasional weekends.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and student challenges with a sense of urgency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in higher education or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience.
• Experience in crisis management, student conduct, or student staff supervision.
• Experience with program design, student activities, or event planning.
• Experience working with faculty within a learning community context.
