Area Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Supervise 12–15 student staff members across a residential area housing approximately 400 students
• Oversee daily building operations, including room condition reporting, check-ins/outs, and facilities reporting
• Promote student engagement through collaboration with campus partners and residence life programming
• Respond to student concerns, mediate conflicts, and support crisis response with a risk management mindset
• Support the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of Residence Life staff
• Serve on an on-campus duty rotation and collaborate with Public Safety to ensure a safe environment
• Maintain effective communication with the Physical Plant regarding damage billing and repairs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Two years of housing administration experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in conflict resolution, crisis response, and policy enforcement
• Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field
• Experience with Maxient, The Housing Director, or Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of student development theory and community engagement practices
• Experience with staff training and leadership development
• Valid driver’s license
• Bilingual abilities
