Area Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a residential community of approximately 550 students across 1-2 residence halls
• Supervise, develop, and evaluate 8-15 Resident Assistants (RAs), including Senior RAs
• Oversee the planning and implementation of all residential programming initiatives
• Manage student conduct cases using restorative justice processes
• Mediate resident conflicts and collaborate with campus partners to support students of concern
• Advise area-wide student leadership organizations
• Participate in the on-call duty rotation to ensure student safety
• Support housing operations, including occupancy management, facilities oversight, and summer housing projects
• Assist with RA recruitment, selection, and training processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Previous experience in residence life or housing operations
• Previous experience in student staff supervision
• Thorough knowledge of student development, leadership, and community development theories
• Strong oral and written communication and critical thinking skills
• Commitment to supporting the mission of John Carroll University

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, or a related field
• Experience working with living-learning communities
• Experience with student staff training or departmental marketing
