Architectural Specification Writer

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to architectural design firms on product selection and client education
• Review drawings and project information to write and edit specifications
• Plan, schedule, and prepare construction specifications using firm-wide master specification cores
• Prepare and review procurement and contracting requirements, including Division 01
• Coordinate consultant technical specifications for conformance with firm standards
• Perform product research and assist designers with material selections
• Maintain awareness of evolving building technology, materials, and code changes
• Assist construction administration staff with product submittals and substitution requests

Requirements

• Minimum of six years of Architectural or Commercial Interiors experience
• Minimum of three years of experience writing and developing AIA MasterFormat 3-part specifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Word
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, Bluebeam Studio, and Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to read construction drawings, programs, and details
• Must have a good driving record and willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, interior architecture, or construction management
• Membership in Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
• CDT Certification, CCS, or LEED AP
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
