Archaeology Field Technician

About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform Stage 2-4 archaeological fieldwork, including test pits and pedestrian surveys
- Conduct archaeological site excavations and artifact collection
- Assist with site documentation under the direction of licensed archaeologists
- Comply with occupational health and safety policies and Stantec’s HSSE program
- Work with Indigenous communities to maintain relationships of mutual trust and respect
Requirements
- Proven experience with physically demanding outdoor labor and strenuous fieldwork
- Ability to travel within Ontario and work out-of-town with overnight stays
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions and exposure to the elements
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently
- Willingness to learn new skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in anthropology or archaeology
- Full G driver’s license in good standing
Benefits
- Competitive hourly wages ranging from $24.12 to $29.71 per hour, depending on experience
- Unionized position governed by a Collective Agreement between Stantec and LiUNA
