About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead field surveys for simple to complex projects with accurate data collection
- Organize fieldwork mobilization and demobilization
- Mentor crews of Archaeological Technicians in survey strategies and artifact identification
- Collect data using GPS units (Trimble, Garmin, or iOS Field Collector)
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Maintain safety awareness and follow field protocols
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Archaeology or equivalent discipline
- Previous permit to work as a field director on state, BLM, and forest lands in Arizona
- 3+ years of supervisory field experience with permitting agencies
- 5+ years of experience with Class III archaeological surveys, monitoring, or testing in the Southwest
- Proficiency in site recording for historic and prehistoric sites
- Strong technical writing skills for Class I and Class III reports
- Ability to work in inclement weather and rugged terrain
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4-wheel high clearance vehicles
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
