Apprentice Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Mechanical Trades

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment
• Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC/R, piping, and boiler systems
• Conduct chemical water treatment testing for closed and open loop water systems
• Utilize building automation control systems for monitoring and troubleshooting HVAC/R systems
• Use industry-standard piping assembly techniques including compression, flared, threaded, brazed, and soldered fittings
• Diagnose and correct electrical and controls-related issues in single and three-phase equipment
• Maintain required records using computerized databases

Requirements

• Must contact and coordinate with Local 412
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
• Ability to obtain EPA Proper Refrigerant Handling certification
• Knowledge of welding and cutting techniques
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling

Preferred Qualifications

• Universal refrigerant license
• Experience with water-cooled chiller systems in excess of 200 tons
• Experience with heating water boiler systems exceeding 1,000,000 BTU/hr
• Experience with advanced Building Automated Control Systems
• Previous experience in a state-approved mechanical apprenticeship program
