Apprentice Lineman

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 3 to 3.5-year training program for transmission line construction
• Perform physically demanding activities in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and ice
• Execute statewide assignments involving transmission line construction and maintenance
• Follow all safety procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure excellence in safety
• Travel extensively throughout the state of Georgia, including overnight stays (up to 200 nights per year)

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1 year or more of experience as a Journeyman Lineman
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Ability to pass the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test
• Ability to pass a post-offer evaluation, DOT drug screen, and physical exam
• Ability to maintain a body weight at or below 300 pounds (fully dressed in required PPE)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Transmission Lineman on voltages from 46kV to 500kV
• Experience as a Distribution Lineman
• Experience operating construction machinery such as skid steers, excavators, backhoes, or cranes
• Experience with heavy load rigging and lifting
