Apprentice Electrician

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of low- and high-voltage equipment within electrical substations
• Work with high-voltage equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, switches, and SCADA systems
• Install time-sensitive network and power cabling, including connection and documentation
• Perform preventive maintenance, predictive inspections, and testing on substation equipment
• Assist Journeyperson Electricians with grounding grids, power system assembly, and structural steel erection
• Comply with all company operating and maintenance safe work practices and standards
• Develop and maintain test and maintenance reports

Requirements

• Registered Electrical Apprentice (Construction or Industrial stream preferred)
• Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and WorkSafeBC regulations
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to work comfortably at heights
• Willingness to travel to remote sites and work out of town
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
