Applications Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide application guidance for medium-complexity applications across Cognex products
• Determine the optimal combination of products, lighting, optics, and automation engineering to meet customer budgets and skillsets
• Perform standard integration of Cognex products with devices such as PLCs, PCs, or Controllers
• Conduct troubleshooting for Cognex products and develop knowledge of peripheral technology
• Support the Sales organization with technical inputs during customer visits and communications
• Perform onsite optimizations, trials, and data analytics to improve solution performance
• Maintain business systems information for accurate reporting and provide product feedback to management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering or Computer Science
• 2-4 years of experience in technical application development
• Knowledge of image processing, optics, or lighting for machine vision
• Understanding of industrial communication methods, networks, and controls (PLCs, wiring, and operability)
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, sometimes on short notice
• English language proficiency (written and oral)
• Ability to work safely in industrial environments and lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-tech industry
• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, VB.Net, C#, .Net, or C++
• Knowledge of motion control, robotics, and other automation equipment
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
