Application Support Engineer

Responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain innovative software applications within the Employee Systems team
• Support operations and collaborate with development engineers on architectural design and complex feature implementation
• Improve the performance, availability, scalability, and monitoring of all Employee Systems
• Coordinate with business partners, engineering teams, quality assurance, and management in a fast-paced environment
• Drive automation to ensure high-level reliability and ease of manageability

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience supporting mission-critical production applications in an enterprise environment
• 3+ years of software development experience building highly scalable RESTful web services
• Expertise in Java development and J2EE
• Proficiency with databases such as Oracle and MongoDB, including SQL and query tuning
• Proven track record in incident management and configuration/change management
• Strong logical debugging methodology for solving complex production issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SOAP, RESTful web services, and frameworks like Spring
• Experience with messaging services like Kafka
• Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Nagios, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace
• Python development experience
• Knowledge of workflow automation systems like Temporal (Autoflow) or Flink
• Functional knowledge of HR or Payroll products (e.g., Workday, Oracle HCM, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors)
