Application Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable software solutions used across SpaceX
• Create new applications to improve SpaceX operations
• Build prototypes to prove design concepts and quantify technical constraints
• Own all aspects of software engineering and product development
• Deep dive into user problems to create efficient solutions
• Collaborate on architecture, design, and code reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software experience
• 1+ years of experience in full stack development
• Ability to work extended hours or weekends depending on launch cadence
• Must be able to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java
• 1+ years of experience building single page web applications
• Experience with version control, CI/CD, and software system design
• Expertise in testing, deployment, monitoring, and performance profiling
• Experience with build systems (Make, Bazel, Gradle) and package management (pip, npm)
• Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet
• Experience with in-stream data processing (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Front-end experience in Angular or React
• Database experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server
