Application Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable software solutions used across SpaceX
• Create new applications to improve SpaceX operations
• Build prototypes to prove design concepts and quantify technical constraints
• Own all aspects of software engineering and product development
• Deep dive into user problems to create efficient solutions
• Collaborate on architecture, design, and code reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline, or 2+ years of professional software experience
• Experience in full stack development
• Ability to work onsite in Starbase, TX
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR authorization

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java
• 1+ years of experience building single page web applications
• Experience with version control, CI/CD, and software system design
• Expertise in profiling and improving application performance
• Experience with build systems (Make, Bazel, Gradle) and package management
• Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and tools like Terraform or Ansible
• Experience with in-stream data processing (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Front-end experience with Angular or React
• Database experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server
