Application Project Manager I

Responsibilities

• Define, start, manage, and complete various complex IT projects within time and budget constraints
• Author requirements documents and operate within the Hidalgo County IT project management framework
• Independently support and monitor tasks and resources associated with multiple competing projects
• Coordinate with IT staff and vendors during the design phase to meet deadlines and avoid delays
• Execute IT-related change control activities during defined change windows
• Serve as a primary point of contact for project milestones and coordinate with the IT Director for project prioritization
• Perform research, data analysis, and create reports based on project needs and required deliverables

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology
• Three (3) years of experience in the information technology field
• Broad knowledge of project management technical skills and experience with project management systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google G-Suite, including Excel, MS Project, or Google Sheets
• Experience with at least one IT discipline (e.g., operating systems, networks, cyber security, software, or databases)
• Experience working independently with multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments
• Valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or license
• Experience applying Agile or SCRUM methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
• Experience serving as a technical team lead to drive projects to closure on time and on budget
