Application Engineering Technical Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop engineering teams while setting performance standards and supporting career growth
• Provide senior-level technical leadership and architectural direction for API-driven platforms
• Own the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable applications
• Evaluate architectural approaches and approve technical deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with standards
• Ensure comprehensive testing across functionality, performance, and security
• Review and approve technical solutions, resolving complex engineering challenges and performing root cause analysis
• Communicate project progress, technical implications, and risks to key stakeholders
• Maintain and promote adherence to development methodologies, architecture standards, and best practices
• Oversee data flow integration across APIs and systems to ensure reliability and performance
• Drive collaboration across global teams to align delivery with business priorities

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership
• At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong expertise in Java-based development and backend systems
• Experience with AWS cloud services and distributed system architectures
• Solid understanding of API design, integration patterns, and security (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
• Proficiency with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and data modeling
• Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Node.js and Python
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working within financial services, asset management, or other regulated industries
