Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale, high-frequency backend systems and APIs
• Take end-to-end ownership of features from architecture and estimation to production support
• Contribute to migration and modernization initiatives to decouple legacy dependencies
• Transform complex technical and business requirements into production-ready solutions
• Participate in agile ceremonies including brainstorming, estimation, and sprint planning
• Identify and resolve complex issues across distributed systems

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Java
• Exposure to PHP is ideal; experience with Go, C#, or Python is valued
• Experience building large-scale, high-volume distributed systems
• Understanding of queuing, caching, concurrency, fault tolerance, and scalability
• Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in financial systems, payments, or data-intensive applications
• Product-first mindset with an emphasis on merchant outcomes
