About the role
Responsibilities
- Establish and leverage external networks and partnerships with research institutions, suppliers, and OEMs
- Develop and manage key innovation and application development programs and special projects
- Lead bonding and gasketing recommendations, technical customer visits, and demonstrations
- Conduct customer troubleshooting, problem-solving for strategic initiatives, and breakthrough technology assessments
- Perform hands-on activities including surface preparation, adhesive product application (manual and robotic), and testing
- Oversee technician laboratory experimental work and write detailed technical reports
- Conduct manufacturing excellence surveys to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities
- Support sales engineers and Key Account Managers during customer site trials
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, material engineering, or a similar field
- 3-5 years of application experience in a laboratory setting, preferably with adhesive technology for automotive interiors and exteriors
- Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking, mechanical aptitude, and effective troubleshooting
- Strong ability to build relationships and work cross-collaboratively
- Willingness to travel up to 20-50% as required by the role
- Ability to work onsite in the office 5 days per week (unless traveling to customer sites or facilities)
