Animation Associate Technical Director

Responsibilities

• Optimize animation workflows through automation and best practices
• Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and utilities for the animation team
• Work within and support the proprietary Imageworks animation pipeline
• Assist artists with technical issues across the production pipeline
• Collaborate with Pipeline and animation supervisors to implement optimizations
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and build tools or systems to improve them
• Author documentation and training materials for tools and workflows
• Communicate progress and challenges to supervisors and the development team
• Collaborate with other departments to manage creative and technical dependencies

Requirements

• Programming experience in Python
• Good knowledge of Maya
• Knowledge of Bash, cShell, and Linux
• Experience with Docker or other software distribution systems
• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills in French and English
• Ability to provide a demo reel illustrating relevant artistic and technical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of C++
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine and Houdini
• Experience with code-sharing and version control systems
• Basic knowledge or experience as a 2D or 3D artist
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computing Science
• Strong interest in visual development, film, animation, and computer graphics
