Animal Trainer

Responsibilities

• Train various animals for interaction, performance, and medical behaviors using operant conditioning
• Manage animal husbandry, including cleaning requirements and providing appropriate diets
• Create, execute, and maintain detailed records of training plans
• Provide enrichment and companionship to build strong relationships with animals
• Assist veterinary doctors with animal treatments and monitor animal welfare
• Educate staff on correct handling procedures and safe training techniques
• Present animals at on-site and off-site locations and events
• Collaborate with the training manager and other staff to optimize training schedules

Requirements

• 1-3 years of professional work experience in animal training or a related field
• Proven knowledge of operant conditioning techniques
• Ability to accurately assess animal behavior and temperaments
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with animals, staff, and the public
• Strong problem-solving skills and the patience required to work with diverse species
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
