Animal Handler Dogs and Cats

Responsibilities

• Safely handle, restrain, and move dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
• Feed pets according to individual dietary requirements and maintain feeding schedules
• Monitor animals for signs of illness, distress, or unusual behavior and report concerns
• Maintain high standards of hygiene by cleaning and disinfecting enclosures, play areas, and equipment
• Administer basic first aid or medications under veterinary direction when required
• Greet pet owners and provide professional updates on their pets' well-being
• Assist with enrichment activities such as play sessions and socialization

Requirements

• Prior experience working with dogs and cats in a kennel, pet hotel, shelter, or veterinary setting
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong understanding of canine and feline behavior and handling techniques
• Basic knowledge of administering medications and first aid to pets
• Ability to lift, handle, and restrain animals weighing 25kg or more
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
