Animal Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Care for laboratory animals and perform daily health observations
• Execute husbandry activities including cage changes, cage washing, and facility sanitation
• Perform handling and restraint of laboratory animals, specifically rodents
• Assist with receiving, housing, and shipping processes
• Monitor inventory for animal feed, bedding, and enrichment supplies
• Operate husbandry equipment such as autoclaves and laminar air flow cabinets
• Maintain and organize laboratory spaces using 5S and lean management principles
• Provide supplies and support for investigators conducting scientific experiments

Requirements

• Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant experience, OR High school diploma/GED and 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience with rodent handling and restraint
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing
• Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to follow guidance documents and work effectively within a team

Preferred Qualifications

• RVT, BS/BA, or Associate's degree in animal science, biology, or a related field
• AALAS certification
• Experience in laboratory, veterinary, or agricultural animal care settings
• In vivo rodent skills including sample collections
• Experience with warehouse or housekeeping tasks
