Animal Care Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all live animals by adhering to strict veterinary protocols and Petco standards
• Oversee hourly animal health checks, wellness documentation, and the proper care of adoption animals
• Lead and coach team members to deliver exceptional animal care and knowledgeable customer service
• Drive sales, margin, and shrink performance within the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments
• Manage inventory and ordering of live animals to balance welfare with business goals
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, visual presentation, and regulatory compliance in all animal areas
• Serve as Leader on Duty, supporting store operations, safety, and compliance

Requirements

• 1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably in a pet retail environment
• Strong knowledge of companion animals, aquatics, and animal care practices
• High school Diploma or GED preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
