Animal Care Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all live animals through strict adherence to Petco standards and veterinary protocols
• Oversee hourly animal health checks, wellness documentation, and proper handling of adoption animals
• Lead the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments by driving sales, margin, and shrink performance
• Coach and mentor team members to deliver exceptional animal care and knowledgeable customer service
• Manage operational tasks including animal maintenance, ordering, inventory levels, and regulatory compliance
• Serve as Leader on Duty, supporting store operations, safety, and compliance

Requirements

• 1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably in a pet retail environment
• Strong knowledge of companion animals, aquatics, and animal care practices
• High school Diploma or GED preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and move merchandise or animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
