Animal Care Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all live animals through strict adherence to Petco standards and veterinary protocols
• Oversee hourly animal health checks, wellness documentation, and proper handling of adoption animals
• Coach and mentor partners to deliver compassionate, knowledgeable customer service and animal care
• Drive sales, margin, and shrink performance within the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments
• Manage inventory by efficiently ordering live animals to balance welfare with business goals
• Serve as Leader on Duty, supporting store operations, safety, and compliance
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and visual presentation in all animal areas

Requirements

• 1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably in a pet retail environment
• Strong knowledge of companion animals, aquatics, and animal care practices
• High school Diploma or GED preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and move merchandise or animals weighing up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
