Animal Care Specialist

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety, and proper care of all companion animals and aquatic life in accordance with Petco standards.
• Complete required animal care tasks, including hourly health checks, wellness documentation, and maintenance logs.
• Maintain clean and professional animal habitats and aquatic areas through routine housekeeping.
• Serve as a primary resource for animal care education for both customers and team members.
• Support sales and merchandising by ensuring products are stocked, priced, and displayed correctly.
• Assist with inventory management, including ordering live animals and supplies.
• Deliver compassionate, solution-focused customer service and process register transactions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with or caring for companion animals and aquatic life.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry and maintenance practices.
• Completion of the Petco Animal Care Certification Program.
• Strong customer service skills and an aptitude for selling.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
